About

Stephanie Grace Symington (SGS) is a jeweller and artist based in Melbourne. She began practicing jewellery in 2017 while completing a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT, where she experimented with turning small sculptural and tactile works into statement pieces.

Coming from a background in sculpture, Steph’s art was influenced by themes of nostalgia, leading her to create delicate installations and hand-painted plaster shells during her Honours in Fine Art in 2018. Her transition into jewellery began with casting objects in precious metals like sterling silver and bronze, a technique she continues to use today.

After a foray into early childhood teaching, Steph's passion for jewellery flourished during the 2020 lockdowns, prompting her to rebrand as SGS. She has since completed a Certificate II in Jewellery Engineering at Melbourne Polytechnic and is now fully immersed in her craft.

Drawing deep inspiration from the natural world, Steph's work reflects her love for flowers, gardens, and the organic beauty of vines and leaves. Her designs frequently feature these motifs, intertwining floral elements with classical jewellery styles. The popular Flirty Flower collection, in particular, highlights her admiration for nature’s graceful forms and elegance, which is echoed in her jewellery-making process. Each piece is enhanced by responsibly sourced gemstones that add dashes of colour.

Working from her Heidelberg studio, Steph specialises in made-to-order, everyday-statement pieces that are both sustainable and tactile. Every piece is crafted lovingly by hand, with a commitment to minimal environmental impact. Her unique creations blend traditional techniques with a contemporary edge, resulting in entirely customisable and one-of-a-kind jewellery.
